STAY TUNED | new design project coming this fall

Farm-fresh food is produced and prepared in the same spirit as a dinner party thrown for close family and friends: with intimacy, generosity and attention to detail.

Just as people want real food, they hunger for real, well designed objects on which to share it. From a raw block of wood, a beautiful form can be cultivated. An heirloom-quality piece of wooden servingware can make everyday living a pleasure, for a lifetime

There is a simple elegance in perfecting the form. Below are six categories inspired by the Farm to Table spirit. We give you a raw block of wood sized appropriately to each object; you let your vision emerge.

(Setting a table involves multiple pieces that work in concert. If you are inspired to create a set or grouping of pieces, please do so within one object category. If you’re moved to craft an entire tabletop tableau, please submit a separate entry for each design per object category. e.g. three nesting bowls as one submission, set of appetizer plates and serving platter as another)

ACACIA | The wavy and curly grain is moderate to severely interlocked. The wood usually has light and dark bands in the growth rings. The grain produces various attractive patterns, such as fiddleback and rainbow. Well suited for furniture and housewares due to its fiddleback figure and highly lustrous quality.

MANGO | The heartwood is dark brown in color, with alternating bands of light and dark tissue. Large, but generally sound knots are reported to be often present. The grain is often wavy and curly and the texture is fine. Also characterized by high weight and density.
